For your consideration, and from my own personal collection, is a 1938 Zenith "Walton" model 12-S-232 shutterdial tombstone 12 tube radio. Affectionately named after the TV show it was featured in, "The Waltons", this is the top-of-the-line 12 tube model with push pull 6V6's audio output, 6T5 "target" magic eye, motorized tuning and the stunning "robot" shutterdial. It is in pristine condition, very clean inside and out. It has all matching tags for model number and serial number (See high resolution pictures below). The 100% original finish retains beautiful deep and rich walnut veneer hues and it is sure to command attention in any room it is displayed.

Speaker cloth is an older NOS reproduction and displays beautifully. Scroll down below for high resolution pictures of the radio.

The unique shutterdial mechanism works perfectly and the dial faces are very clean and free from scratches. The radio has all original wooden knobs and has wonderful original patina on the dial escutcheon. The 12 tube chassis has been meticulously restored with new capacitors installed inside the old capacitor shells/cans to maintain an original appearance. A NOS very rare original Zenith 6T5 magic eye tube is mounted on the receiver. The original 6T5, although dim, is also included as a spare, as well as the NOS Zenith box.

All tubes in the receiver are the correct ST "Coke bottle" versions including many original engraved Zenith types, such as the pair of 6V6's in the final audio section. They all have been tested and are in excellent condition. The radio includes its original, extremely rare, 49-183AB 670 ohms speaker , which was only made for this model. It sounds terrific and has never repaired or reconed. The power cord is a period correct NOS brown rubber type with molded plug.

I have made a demonstration YouTube video of the radio in action. Search for "1938 Zenith 12-S-232 "Walton" Tube Radio - Demonstration" Video by user ID: crooner2007. Please note a 6U5 eye tube was in the radio at the time the video was made. The NOS 6T5 will be installed and operating on the radio when you receive it. Thanks for looking and don't miss out on this outstanding Zenith 12-S-232 "Walton".
