In Zenith Advertising, this radio design could have come right off the set of AMCs Mad Men. It has a Phono Jack input that can be used to play music through your. IPod/MP3/ or Smartphone I tested it and it works great!

The Zenith C845 Black wood finish models (known as Ebony) are quite rare the maple, walnut, and blond versions are much more common. This one has a fully restored black wood finish and it looks amazing. It would be perfect as a daily player - they're built like tanks.

For those unfamiliar with Zeniths C845 radio it is legendary with Zenith collectors - the sound is truly amazing you have to hear it to believe it. With two loud speakers (an 8 Woofer and 3.5 electrostatic Tweeter), this radio represented the pinnacle of achievement of Zeniths High Fidelity sound efforts. The C845 was the first in a series of almost identical models thatned from 1959 through 1967, before Zenith finally went to Solid State printed circuit radio technology. The C845 was followed in 1964 by the H845 and X338, then finally the model X337 in 1967. Many collectors of these radios usually have more than one in their stable due to their quality construction, hand wiring, and superb performance.

As you can hear, this radio sounds amazing. (Please note, any reverberation sound from the video are from the overly sensitive mic on my video camera and not from the radio the bass is strong, which causes this effect when taping). There are 2 knobs on the right, the left is for on/off/volume the right is for bass & treble control. There is a knob and selector on the left side of the radio as well which controls band selection and tuning. The C845 is a very solid, long lasting radio with amazing sound.

Using just the single wire connection that uses the power cord as an antenna. The exterior has been polished gently with a natural wood polish and maintains an. Amazing ORIGINAL dark walnut finish. The plastic grille has been thoroughly cleaned, and looks almost like new. The cabinet is in great shape, no nicks, no cracks, solid and structurally sound.

There is a small hairline in the dial that can be seen in the photos but it does not detract from the overall look. The blue station indicator is set back deeper in the dial lens than normal making it difficult to see in normal light but its there and works. (The C845s didnt have the dial light as an option as their H845 cousins that came later on). For a 55 year old radio, you may find a blemish here or there but I have not noticed anything significant - this radios exterior and all original accessories are in great shape. The Power cord and plug are also original and in good pliable condition.

The original back is sturdy and in good condition with all of its original screws in place. All four feet were missing, I added quality felt pads which raise the radio to the same level as before.
