Zenith Walton Tube Radio
This is a "Walton" type Tube radio. It was my wife's grand fathers. We acquired it many years ago when he passed. It was listed briefly yesterday (June 17th) but ended it after members pointed out it is not completely original. Here is what it contains. The cabinet is a 7S232. Clearly visible from the paper ID on the bottom i. The chassis is a 9S262 (9 tube) with the motor drive. Its serial # is R209122.

The speaker is a Zenith 9S232 - 1000 ohm speaker. Speaker frame #'s are "49-117AB", and "1000 Ohms", electromagnet #'s are "850 - 33", and. Speaker transformer #'s are "3981AB". This would have come from a 9 tube radio. Therefore we have three (3) Zenith components married together.

Cabinet 7S232, Chassis 9S262, Speaker 9S232. I've removed components and taken pictures.

Had not intended to do this, but it was the only way to solve the question. If you want to see more close up's I'll send them to you.

It has the tuning eye. The knobs are original wooden Zenith, but the top knob is missing. The belts are connected but relaxed and need to be replaced: the related knob spins. It has Zenith, Phillips, and GE tubes.

I've been advised not to power the unit up for fear of damaging internals so I do not know the strength of the eye. The speaker has no tears and the cone is smooth and free in its movement. Speaker measured at 844 OHMs; I understand this is in range. There is a small white surface fine line stain on the cone front that resembles a 1/4 V, but nothing is torn. The tension springs are in place and appear fine. Everything seems to move as it is supposed to with exception of the relaxed belts. The cord has electrical tape inside the chassis & should be replaced for safety.

The tall capacitor on top of the chassis nested with the tubes has crust on top & needs to be replaced. The cabinet appears to have its original finish to my eye and is in good condition, but shows some wear. Nothing is delaminated, it is solid. It does have some tiny white spots that appear to be latex from a painted wall sometime in the past.

They seem to come off with your fingernail, but have left these alone. There is a white paint drip on the back of the cabinet upper RH corner. The radio should be checked and tested by a qualified technician which may reveal other defects.

Thank you to members who pointed out the chassis was an upgraded 9 tube vs. Further we learned the speaker was also changed. If members see anything else, please point it out.

Will let you and the market decide the value. Please feel free to ask any questions or if you want more information. Please communicate early so I can respond.
