The wood is good with only edgewear and all of its veneer intact, still very solid and was given a nice treatment of Howards Beeswax. A very rare model as very few of the wood models were made or survive. This radio is now about 82 years old. This radio has been completely torn down, cleaned recapped and refurbished and will provide many years of good service. The chassis was extensively cleaned and all components were tested and the original caps were replaced.
Two of the tubes were either weak or bad and were replaced with the best tubes from my collection. The tube gang consists of 35L6 (replaced), 35Z5, 12K7, 12A8 and 12Q7 (replaced). The speaker is in great condition. The dial string is in great shape. It does require an external antenna and has a pigtail out of the chassis in back.
A new dial lamp was put in and all the caps were replaced including the electrolytic filter capacitors. It's original knobs and dial pointer are all there.
I did install a good period unpolarized cord with a fresh grommet where it goes out of the chassis in back. It also has a new set of soft rubber feet. Many hours were spent to bring back this classic and you can check out my very clear pictures. The result is a working and somewhat rare Fada which was produced in the USA around 1939. A beautiful 5 tube 1939 Fada guaranteed not to be DOA.Please check out my other tube and radio listings. Thanks for looking and Good Luck.
