There is some light wear to the mahogany case, the brass pieces show some small areas of oxidation, and the bakelite knobs and tweed would benefit from a good professional cleaning. We did not open up the case, so there is likely some dust inside as well. This radio has been tested, it powers on, receives stations well, and has a loud and great sounding speaker. The last photo shows the red power light on above the power knob, albiet a bit hard to see in bright lighting.
This device uses a loaded antenna on the rear panel. It's sufficiently efficient but extremely directive, so the position of the radio impacts the quality of reception. The back panel is prepared to connect an external antenna for enhanced reception, should you want to place it in your home without restriction.
The knob in the center of the dial pointer is actually the tone control, and it turns independently of the dial pointer. Tuning is accomplished by rotating the inner, amber ring on the left bottom of the radio.
The right hand knob is the on/off/volume knob. In the rear, there is an RCA socket for the Phono input.A small switch is placed next to it and allows one to choose whether to listen to the signal coming from the radio or the Phono input. A turntable with a piezo cartridge or other devices that provide similar output voltage can be connected to this input. This radio is also a particularly easy model to modify, there are a number of these that have been been updated and equipped with Bluetooth receivers, and if you do some google-ing there are also available adaptor cables allowing any digital device such as a smartphone, CD player, etc. To connect and play through the unit.
