I've had this fine vintage ZENITH TRANS OCEANIC radio for several years in honor of my older brother, Moody. He was an honorary firefighter with the Webster Station in Lincoln Park, Chicago - Squad 10 and Engine 22.

He use a 1948 Zenith Trans Oceantic Radio, exactly like this to listen to Fire Calls so he could go to any Four Alarm fires nearby. I learned early in my life about this incredible radio as we listened to the World on the Zenith when my brother wasn't listening to police calls..

I bought this Zenith for my brother some 8 years ago, when he was 86 years old and not well. Wish you could have seen the joy that burst open when he saw this very radio! He whipped up the Antennae, plugged it in and began dialing for the location where the FM Police and Fire calls used to be found - but no more. What joy the radio brought him for his last years. This vintage 1948 ZENITH TRANS OCEANIIC radio that brought such joy to my brother is in marvelous condition, visually and electrically.

Crystal clear dial cover, perfect collapsible antenna, strong, solid wooden cabinet and its black leather covering is excellent. After 70 years of age. The top handle safely "handles" the weight of this beautiful piece, Instruction and map card strips stored in front bottom are readable and attached, Push buttons are in place and working and the four equalizer switches work. The Wave Magnet itself is in perfect condition. The "dial string" has come off the tuning dial system. I have no idea as to how to open the radio to have enough room to re-string it.. Reaching in from the back I manually moved the tuner to retest the Broadcast Band.

The Short Wave reception was working before dial string problem. I always enjoyed listening to Ham operators. This 1948 Zenith Trans Oceanic has been well taken care of and stored correctly. Be sure to study the photos as they are part of the description. This Zenith Trans-Oceanic is the finest of its kind!

In spite of its age, it's in remarkable condition and growing in rarity as a 1948 Zenith Trans-Oceanic. I'm just an old 83 year old man downsizing and offering what he thinks are treasured collections and items he's used and enjoyed. Ny research on your part will show my price is extremely fair.
