Spectacular Restored Retro/Art Deco/Mid-Century Tube Radio-Plays Great! This is a gorgeous glossy, black plastic Zenith tube radio Model H511 (circa 1951) which looks and plays great. Its design is a last gesture by Zenith to the look of an art deco "streamliner, " while simultaneously moving toward more modern designs which quickly followed in the mid 1950's.
The cabinet is extremely glossy and in excellent condition. There were a very, very few minor scratches in the case which have been painstakingly, hand-buffed out and are barely noticeable. The cabinet has no cracks but there is one tiny chip in the lower front edge of the left leg (facing) of the radio (see picture). It has its complete, original back which has been internally reinforced at its attachment points. The center trim bar is totaly dent-free and has been professionally replated, buffed and high temperature clear-coated. It has clear, high-quality photo copies of its correct, original factory label. The radio measures 7" high x 7 1/8" deep (including knobs) x 14 wide. This radio has been restored electronically. All of its old capacitors have been replaced with new, modern components. The electrolytic capacitor has been "restuffed" with new, modern capacitors in its original housing. All tubes and resistors have been checked and replaced if found bad or out of specifications. Transformers have been replaced with new (NOS) units. The on/off switch/volume control and the tuning condenser have been cleaned and lubricated and it has been accurately aligned. It also has a new power cord. This radio's knobs are original and have no chips, cracks or breaks. Its distinctive "Z" operating light is fully functional. It has an internal antenna and plays with excellent selectivity and fidelity, picking up stations clearly across the dial without any hum. This is an incredibly well-preserved radio, lovingly brought back to life. I have been restoring radios for well over 25 years and I don't take short cuts or use inferior materials or methods. Please don't wait until the last minute to ask questions. Please check my other listings for additional radios. In the description above I erroneously stated that this is a black radio. It is brown and the knobs are the correct knobs for a brown Zenith H511. Thanks to a sharp-eyed ebayer for pointing out my error.
