We inherited an estate and this radio was in the attic. Initially when plugged in (twice), it turned on and all the tubes lit up- there was no sound out of the speaker. While I was photographing it for this listing, it wouldn't come on at all.
I think it is because the dried-up cord is so badly damaged now from my husband wrapping it up like a bowtie. There is also a puncture in the speaker grill cloth and speaker cone where his finger accidentally went through it while moving the radio. The glass is in great condition with no cracks or scratches that I can see - just dirty (and lots of reflection in the photos). This radio is a beautiful art deco style and appears to be complete! It begs to be restored! Check out my other items! The item "Vintage 1939 Zenith Table Radio AM Shortwave" is in sale since Sunday, December 13, 2015.
