Vintage 1946 ZENITH TRANS-OCEANIC Tube Radio 8G005YT Partially Working
I will be listing his equipment during the coming weeks and months. 1946 ZENITH TRANS-OCEANIC Tube Radio Model 8-G-005YT. It appears to be all original. I suspect it needs new filter capacitors as they appear to be original. It also should have the paper bypass capacitors replaced, tubes checked and the band switch cleaned.
The front face is in nice condition. The rod antenna is straight and fully extendable. The case is in fair condition with no major rips or tears. It is missing the detachable Wavemagnet antenna and the logbook. While I have described this radio as accurately as possible, please note that vintage tube gear is best enjoyed by those with an understanding of electronics and the ability/equipment to work on them.
This Transoceanic is over 70 years old and will require replacement of capacitors and perhaps other components, plus an alignment to obtain peak performance. This unit also has potentially dangerous voltages present and only an experienced and qualified person should attempt any repairs or adjustments.
