Vintage 1954 Zenith Model L515F Owl Eyes Tube Clock Radio Immaculate & Working

This clock radio was made by Zenith in 1954. The "Owl Eyes" clock radio came in several colors of which green is, I think, the least common. All these radios were packaged in a heavy plastic cabinet that was factory painted and they all used the same 5-tube Zenith chassis, type 5L06.

This particular Owl Eyes is serial number Y-552582. As you can see from the photos, the cabinet is in nearly perfect condition with no cracks or chips. It has the original Zenith back and original Zenith knobs.

I restored this radio years ago, replacing the filter capacitors and weak tubes, but leaving as much of the radio original as possible. Both the clock and the radio are working. You can see that the second hand is moving by comparing photos.

The radio plays with good volume and tone. The switches around the clock dial work properly to turn the radio on and off, set off an alarm, or allow the radio to run for a while before shutting off (see photo 5). I've had this radio in my personal collection for 15 years, but it's time for me to pass on some of my treasures to others.
