VTG 1951 Zenith Trans Oceanic Wave Magnet H 500 Short Wave AM Tube Radio Works

It is the model H 500. The company Chicago Radio Labs was founded in 1918 by Ralph Matthews and Karl Hassel.

In 1923 the name was changed to Zenith Radio Company. The name came from their call sign 9ZN. In 1939 they produced their first TV sets. The 1960s Zenith patented the remote control. Due to foreign competition Zenith filed for Bankruptcy in 1999.

Zenith always made quality radios and this one is no exception. The radio is 17 inches wide, 11 inches wide, and has Black leather over wood cabinet. The handle is an early plastic. There are no rips, tears, or breaks to the cabinet or handle. There are a few scuff/wear marks from age and use And there is one small factory defect.

The Wave Magnet antenna is attached with no defects. The radio dial plastic is in like new condition along with the trim pieces.

All the buttons and dials and there, in great condition and function properly. The speaker sound has no crackling and has a nice tone to it.

The radio was re strung. The front locking Brass cover hasp locks properly and has only normal wear from age. The antenna works properly and is 50 inches fully erect. The inside where the tubes are is very clean. The battery hookup is there but there are no batteries or case. The accessories for hooking the antenna up are there along with the scamatics, owners manual, instruction manual, and a brochure about how to use the short wave.

A new vintage style power cord was also installed. The radio was tested and worked on all bands (Please See Video). The overall condition of this vintage piece is excellent considering its age and usage.

Do not expect them to come to you in Like New condition unless that is stated in item description. Anything 20 years or older qualifies as vintage. Items ranging from 40 years & older can often qualify as antique.

LIGHTING LAMPS and VINTAGE FIXTURES..... Look over the pictures carefully! What is pictured is what you will get.

Often, especially older fixtures, DO NOT come with original hardware i. Screws, brackets, washers, nuts, etc so unless it is pictured or specifically noted do not expect any. You can take your vintage items to any hardware or specialty lighting store... There is a great deal of vintage inspired items on the market. Sometimes we re-wire lamps & when we do it will state that in the description.

We make no warranties of any kind regarding vintage electrical items whether it be lighting or something else. If a lamp works there will be a picture showing you it works.

Sometimes we can test & show that a fixture will work but wiring etc. All sales are final on lamps, fixtures, shades, etc.

On the sale of any electrical or battery powered items there are no warranties implied or otherwise. Sometimes we can add a video showing the item in action. WE WILL NOT DO THIS! We keep accurate records of when items are mailed to prove they are sent out when promised.
