The golden burled bands appear iridescent. It receives quite well and with a large speaker, sounds great too with treble/bass control for your listening preference. The tuner has two speeds -push in/pull out to allow for dialing in far away or weaker stations. The cabinet is in excellent condition.
The old finish was removed, but it kept the original stains, which were rejuvenated. The trim and top were redone with dark walnut toners, then the entire cabinet coated with high quality clear lacquer. The results are just stunning as can be seen. The wooden Zenith logo knobs are original and in excellent condition. The dial face has crisp and clear graphics with red, green, yellow and white displayed so nicely.
The grill cloth and power cord are new, with the power cord using the original oak leaf/acorn Bakelite plug. Felt pads have been added to the bottom to protect your furniture. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed.
All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using an external antenna. This radio is a must for the collector and is a great looking and sounding conversation piece.It has been restored with great attention to detail and should easily last another 82 years and be passed on to your family.
