Zenith 6D029 AM radio with its impressive and gorgeous wood cabinet
Made even more distinctive with the glowing brass escutcheon. The electronics has been revitalized with all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced with modern units, its six tubes tested and replaced if performing below specs, controls cleaned and lubricated, and the set aligned. The grill cloth is probably a replacement. The original back is complete and in place. The black dial face is illuminated with two new dial lights. The plastic dial cover is just about perfect with a few scratches, but no cracks, chips, or even the shrinkage usually seen. The power cord is modern with a vintage plug.
The inverted'V' brass dial escutcheon and the two brass elements on the knobs were polished and then sealed with clear lacquer to lock in the gleam. This radio must be among the most durable designs out there, what with its 1 thick wood side panels and heavy top and bottom. The wood grains are amazing, now restored to the original glow after the cabinet was stripped, walnut stain applied, two new decals (Zenith and Consol-Tone) correctly placed, and all finished with multiple coats of clear lacquer. The result is a gorgeous wood cabinet, free of any damage and sure to impress all who see it. Please examine the photos to see for yourself.
