The cabinet retains the original stain which was refreshed. The trim was redone with brown mahogany toner, then the the cabinet was given 6 coats of clear lacquer. It was then waxed to further bring out the beauty of the wood.
It retains the original "Z" knobs, grill cloth and dial cover, which is polished crystal clear. The black dial face remains crisp with the airplane dial and Zenith logo standing out handsomely. The chassis was cleaned and serviced, with all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Three tubes were replaced and the resistors checked out good. All electrical contacts and controls were detail cleaned and lubricated. A new power cord was installed using the original plug, which was polished. It was tuned, aligned and peaked for optimal reception and sound. Who knows what news and stories it brought to the original owners? Now it will play for many more years of enjoyment with the in & out restoration it has had. The item "ZENITH 6D628 Tube Radio (1942) RESTORED" is in sale since Sunday, March 18, 2018.
