Zenith 6G001YX "Long Distance" Universal Tube Radio. It has been completely recapped , and out-of-spec resistors replaced.
Two (2) tubes have been replaced, and a spare 1LN5 is included (a NOS tube from 1944; the other boxes are empty but good for display). Also included are the SAM'S Photofacts, with listings of parts and a schematic. Repair of this radio gave me fits! Everything checked and double-checked, cross-checked with the Photofacts, etc. And it still wouldn't work. It finally took a very careful comparison of what I was seeing in the radio with the details in the schematic and Photofacts. It was then that I discovered the Photofacts has mislabeled the location of two tubes!!Once I swapped the tubes, it fired right up! Reception (in my area) is very good. It takes about 30 seconds for the tubes to warm up; you'll get a lot of static while that happens.
Once the set is warmed up, reception is generally strong and clear, especially at night. The antenna is a Zenith "Wavemagnet" that is located on the inside of the lid. In general, a very nice, rare specimen! The item "Zenith 6G001YX Long Distance Universal Tube Radio (1946)" is in sale since Tuesday, October 8, 2019.
