The Zenith model 10S452 was produced in 1940. Zenith Armchair (aka Chairside) production started in 1937 and ended in 1942. They were not very popular and consequently very few were produced. Relatively rare and very collectible as a result. It features 10 tube superheterodyne tuning with 3 tuning ranges.
Broadcast 540 KC to 1600 KC. Short Wave 1 5.6 MC to 18.5 MC. Short Wave 2 1505 KC to 5200 KC. Maximum power output is 15 watts and consumption is 95 watts. It incorporates a built-in Wavemagnet for station tuning, however an outside aerial antenna will bring in more short wave stations. It also has an Electric Tuning Indicator, which glows as you zero in on a station. Grandfather called it a "Magic Eye".The reception tone can be changed (64 variations according to the manual) by adjusting the 6 buttons on the left hand side of the dial.
