Now your antique radio can play all of the same programs it did when it was new! C rules Part 15 this is a perfectly legal transmitter And you need no license to use it. The rules state that the transmitter may only transmit 100mw input into a 5 meter antenna and transmit no farther than 200 feet and this transmitter meets all these rules. This model has a solid oak case as you see in the pictures. Easy to tune with large black calibrated knob on the front panel. The transmitter electronically is overbuilt on purpose so that it will last a lifetime. No part in this transmitter is overworked in any way. And another big plus is if you get a power surge or spike this transmitter has a better chance of surviving than the transistor models out there. Specifications Power 115-120 volts AC 50/60 cycles Power usage 9 watts Size.

Weight 4lbs or 2 kilo. 6SA7 Frequency 700 to 1050KHZ. Power in 1 volt peak audio power (headphone volume) Power out 100mw radio frequency power.

Audio input, headphone, line or microphone level Antenna 18 foot of #20 wire (supplied) Frequency drift +-5 cycles after warm up. The case is solid 3/4 oak...........

Chassis, front panel and bottom are 16g aluminum. For more of what I do....... A little about the unit in the picture so there are no surprises. The front panel is 3/32 narrower than the wood case so a little slot shows.

This one is not completely wired wanted to get the new one up as soon as possible. I used 3/4" oak on these because i found the glue does not hold very well on 1/4" oak, unit does have to withstand a few bumps. A little bit of history i need to put up because all the copy cats making these transmitters now.

When i had the idea to do this there were no tube transmitters. Went with the original Zenith designed one because its the simplest and has the least problems.

The 12AU7 pre-amp you can find in the back of an RCA receiving tube manual. Fender guitar uses the same pre-amp in most of their amps. Most of these other builders are using a single 6AV6 probably because they are cheaper than a 12AU7, And its still king to the audiophiles.......... Took electronics in Jr high and High school.

No electronic engineer degree here. But i did start early at age 11 taking radios apart and seeing what made them tick. And studied as time went on.

Worked at GJM electronics in Glendale CA and Flexweld digital (1967) sensors in highland park CA as technician also Vegas radio when i moved here i repaired ham and CB radios. So have had a good deal of hands on time building and repairing. The ham radio has also been a trip through electronics design of transmitters and receivers.

Mostly built good designs but added modifications to suit what i wanted. The item "Zenith Designed AM Broadcaster Transmitter RCA Fada Philco Sparton" is in sale since Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
