MODEL, YEAR, FEATURES: Bold reflective metal dial trim is hard to miss on this 1954 Zenith Model R615G. The 615 series came in several colors, and this one retains its original factory gloss gray finish. Radio is accented front and center with a brass Zenith crest along with carry handle, and a bright red pilot light just above the left hand Volume knob. Controls are simple Volume and Tuning, and an old phonograph can be plugged into the jack at the rear (shown in one photo), using the radios circuitry and speaker for amplification.

Hours were put into this set getting it to look and work like it did sixty-some years ago, and its ready for years of trouble free service ahead. CONDITION, SERVICING, PERFORMANCE: Cabinet is in excellent condition without chips or cracks, and the original factory gray finish is holding up well with a fine gloss and only minor signs of wear. The electronics have been gone through with all the old wax / foil and filter capacitors replaced, along with a thorough check of other components and servicing of tuning mechanics. Cabinet was given a thorough cleaning inside and out, tuning dial pointer rotates properly around the dial scale without slipping or binding.

Dial graphics and numerals are sharp and well defined (note the old Civil Defense symbols from the Cold War era). Radio has its original fasteners and knobs; the left hand Volume knob has a small chip-out on its outer ridge, but nothing eye grabbing, and is perfectly functional. The original backboard has been discretely reinforced on its inner corners and now stays firmly fastened in place. Handle is in perfect strong shape, and the Zenith factory stickers are present on the underside.

The six tubes are commonly found to this day and are easily serviced from the back side if one ever needs replacement. Tall, and is 7 in.

Deep from the front of the knobs to the back panel old 6.5 Oz. Coke bottle placed to give sense of scale.
