ZENITH TRANS-OCEANIC G500 (1950) PROFESSIONALLY REFURBISHED FILT-R-PAK+ EQUIPPED
Beautiful and collectible Zenith Trans-Oceanic G500 (1950), serial number J-272756. Fully restored cosmetically and electronically, this is the model some call the jewel of the entire fabled Zenith Trans-Oceanic line.
Produced in limited quantities due to its one year production run, this was the one Zenith used to transition from 1940's technology to more modern designs and layouts. It featured beautiful lines, elegant brass on black trim, and that distinctive Wavemagnet badge proclaiming'The Royalty of Radio'. Appearance sets this one apart from other ZTO's, and G500 also holds the distinction of being the first ZTO to utilize modern miniature tubes. Cosmetically, the cabinet was routinely cleaned and re-dyed for deep, even color, plastic trim was cleaned and polished, and the brass fixtures were polished and clear coated. Electronically, the chassis has been completely re-capped and a Filt-R-Pak+ installed thus modernizing the power supply by replacing all filter capacitors, the rectifier, and the power resistor in a single operation.
Dial cords were routinely replaced, as was the power cord. Radio has been certified to operate on both AC and battery pack. The telescopic antenna is straight, extends fully, latches down and pops up as it should. Tubes have been tested and verified strong, and all switches and controls, including the tuner have been cleaned and lubricated. The chassis was IF/RF aligned to factory specifications to assure peak sensitivity and accurate dial readout and the radio plays on all bands with great sensitivity, beautiful tone, and lots of volume.
