Actual Photos Shown: Zenith Transoceanic Short Wave multi band vacuum tube radio. This particular model was made in the 50s and is 70+ years old at the time of posting.
Most of these zenith radios are not gonna be in top shape unless an expert went through the machine and serviced it. The radio powers on and does seem to work, but not very well. The audio is very distorted and not really enjoyable to listen to. The vacuum tubes were replaced, one of the replacement tubes is a solid state transistor tube that works in the tube socket, which will never need to be replaced. The antenna fully extends out just fine. Be Leary of sellers who don't want to talk about the condition.
Although this unit does technically "work" I would not describe it as working if it works poorly, and needs service which this machine does. If you're an electronics technician and you understand this technology, this could be a good deal for you because the transistorized tube that I replaced is a rare vacuum tube size to get and doesn't last very long from what I read (the tube version).
The transistorized tube alternative should hypothetically last forever and never need replacement. Feel free to contact me for questions.
