Working on cleaning out shop. I have accumulated tons of electronic equipment and amps over the years. My goal was to restore and rebuild them after I retired from my real job. I opened a tube amp restoration business and it has become quite apparent that I will never get to my own stuff. This is a very rare Zenith Transoceanic case for the R-520/URR.

I have one of these complete radios in my collection and t took me many years to hunt one down. This is obviously missing the chassis, wave magnet, one of the brass retainers, the plastic dial face, buttons and the military tag. The red stencil sometimes seen on these is also not present. The holes for the US Army metal plate are there. What you see is what you get. No rips, some abrasions, overall the oil cloth is in very good shape and the case is solid. It has the special tube holders and pocket for the instruction manual as well as the added security latch not found on civilian radios. The extendable Antenna is in the unit and it matches the one in my other military 520.

The interior is dirty with some white residue, I did not attempt to clean it for fear of damaging it. AGAIN What you see is what you get. You will probably never see another one offered for sale so get it while you can. I have been an electronic hobbyist for over 45 years.

I write articles, for AudioXpress concerning restoration, repair and maintenance of vintage audio equipment and radios. I build custom audio amplifiers and speakers for customers, as well as for pleasure. My interest is in preserving and promoting the use of many vintage items. I offer a restoration service for select audio brands including Heahtkit, Dynaco and McIntosh tube amplifiers.

I also collect and restore Bulova Accutron watches from the 60's and 70's and Zenith TransOceanic Radios from the 50's and 60's. You can also check out the about me section by my screen name. Once you are invoiced, please pay within 3 days. I want your item to reach you in great shape.

Packing delicate items for survival is an art; it is time consuming and expensive. I also double box any item that has tubes or glass, or is particularly fragile. Proof of careful packing also facilitates any damage claims. I leave feedback when you pay for your item.

When you receive the item, please unpack it right away, and carefully inspect for damage and function. If the item is damaged, it is VERY IMPORTANT you keep ALL the packing materials and boxes until the shipper has inspected them. YOU will need to file a claim with the shipper. In addition, please contact me, since we will need to work together to resolve the claim.
